Ganesh immersion: Telangana govt declares holiday on September 9

The Second Saturday, September 12, will now be a working day instead of September 9, 2022.

HYDERABAD: In view of the Gangesh idol immersion procession in the twin towns of Hyderabad and Secunderabad, the Telangana government has declared a "Public Holiday" on September 9, 2022. The Second Saturday, September 12, will now be a working day instead of September 9, 2022, which was designated as a holiday by the state government.

The Telangana state government on Thursday issued an official GO that states, "The government hereby orders that September 9 (Friday) shall be a general holiday for the government offices, schools, and colleges located in the vicinity of the twin cities of Hyderabad, Secunderabad, Rangareddy, and Medchal-Malakajgiri districts of Telangana state on account of the Gangesh Idols immersion procession on Friday."

In lieu of the general holiday declared on September 9, 2022, the GO continued, "Consequently, September 12 (Second Saturday) shall be observed as a working day for all government offices and schools located in the vicinity of the twin cities of Hyderabad-Secunderabad, Secunderabad, Rangareddy, and Medchal-Malakajgiri."
