HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad City Police intends to advance the bold objective of improving safety and security in the state capital, through a comprehensive action plan this year.

All L&O, traffic, taskforce, H-NEW DCsP, and other wings outlined their respective plans of action along with pre-set dates to attain the stated targets in a meeting chaired by City police commissioner CV Anand here at CCS building, Basheerbagh. All senior officers were exhorted by the top brass to lead from the front in their particular tasks.

While the meeting's initial focus was on more general issues like crime prevention and detection, pendency clearances, and improving visible policing, it quickly broadened to include a wider range of interconnected problems that all citizens face, such as drug abuse, cybercrime, women's safety, and efficient surveillance.

This year, the Hyderabad city police cyber crime wing plans to increase capacity, establish a cyber crime investigative support centre, and assist police station staff with cyber crime investigations.

During this meeting, formal approvals were also granted for the acquisition of the most recent software and hardware. CV Anand has asked all zonal DCPs to implement ADCs in all colleges within a month and schools by the end of the year.

The Action Plan outlines a number of goals and projects that would be advanced through greater financing, police infrastructure upgrades, and improved internal operations.

With different religious festivals and processions on the same dates, the focus was shifted to strengthening community ties, reorganising peace committees with energetic youth on board.

Significant IT enhancements were in the pipeline, including the use of artificial intelligence, chat bots, the management of a digital library, and the implementation of an enterprise system in all units of the Hyderabad city police.

The primary strategic steps that H-NEW would take this year were drug production units, monitoring precursor chemicals, invoking PD act on erring offenders, and deportation of foreigners.

Main topics at this conference included office digitization and automation, effective use of social media to drive campaigns, quick application disposal, city police reorganisation, traffic management, improving CCTV network and coverage, and others.
