Rachakonda traffic police book 27,467 drivers without helmets in one week

As many as 105 special drives were conducted against encroachments in three traffic divisions under Rachakonda commissionerate.

HYDERABAD : Rachakonda traffic police booked 2,925 cases and seized vehicles during special drives against Drunken Driving, Number Plates, and Encroachments from January 2-9, 2023, with the goal of reducing crime snatchings and road accidents.

As many as 105 special drives were conducted against encroachments in three traffic divisions under Rachakonda commissionerates: LB Nagar, Malkajgiri, and Bhongir.

During the special drives, Rachakonda traffic police registered 41 towing cases, 264 encroachment cases, 27,467 cases against offenders without helmets, 509 petty crimes, 87 cell-phone driving cases, and 441 triple riding cases.

Rachakonda Traffic Police also booked 644 drunken and driving cases and produced 992 drunken and driving suspects, including old instances. The relevant Courts imposed sanctions such as imprisonment, fines, and community service. As many as 26 perpetrators were sentenced to 1 to 5 days in prison, and 20 respondents were sentenced to 1 to 5 days of community service.

Rachakonda Traffic Police had issued 28 traffic notices to footpath encroachers and business establishments for uneven parking in front of their enterprises, causing traffic congestion.

D. Srinivas, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic, Rachakonda, urged motorists to carry appropriate identification and driving licences in accordance with the Motor Vehicle Act. He also asked the general people to co-operate the traffic police during a specific drive against number plates and drunk driving, among other things.
