ROPE: 472 motorists, 18 establishment owners fined for traffic violations

The Traffic Police have initiated this particular drive to remove encroachments and obstructions.

HYDERABAD: Hyderabad City Police Commissioner CV Anand on Monday made a surprise visit at the Rd.No.45 junction in Jubilee Hills to supervise the ongoing "ROPE" - Removal of Obstructive Parking Encroachments operation and other engineering measures initiated by traffic police.

He assessed the field staff's readiness and talked about the necessary engineering changes during his visit. The police commissioner received a briefing on the inflow, volumes, and load on the neighbourhood roadways from the traffic officials.

CP Anand told the media that due to the steep rise in population and the increase in personal vehicles during the covid infection period, we now face a serious situation of traffic jams at all junctions. Let's acknowledge the gravity of the problem and willingly work with HTP to ensure free flow of traffic. The Traffic Police have initiated this particular drive to remove encroachments and obstructions to parking in order to lessen traffic congestion, he said.

The city police chief said that more special drives will be initiated to keep a check on traffic violations including triple riding, cell phone riding, wrong side driving etc., to bring order on the city roads. He also urged the public representatives to cooperate with the traffic police during enforcement and VIP movements. The general public were advised to commute the public transport systems in lieu of personal vehicles, a collective action that would reduce the congestion on roads.

He reiterated that the commuters must stop at the STOP line on noticing the signal turning green to orange. All the establishment owners were being sensitised to keep the carriage way clear by providing park space.

As part of the ROPE operation, over 472.motorists and 18 establishment owners were fined for traffic violations. The Hyderabad traffic police conducted the drive throughout the city, and a fine of Rs 3,65,000 was imposed on Day 1 of the operation.
