HYDERABAD: A first-year postgraduate doctor was brutally attacked by a pack of stray dogs on Monday night while on duty at the Government General and Chest Hospital in Erragadda.

According to reports, the incident happened late on Monday night while the doctor was attending to a patient as part of her night shift rounds.

There was reportedly no security guard there at the time, and the patient attendants managed to save the doctor. The Telangana Junior Doctors Association claimed that occurrences of this nature have happened in government hospitals earlier. Despite numerous complaints about the stray dog problem at government hospitals, the relevant authorities did not respond.

The Junior Doctors Association claimed that the lack of "Emergency Medicine" at the hospital for the doctor's care was the worst aspect. Additionally, the hospital does not have TT and Anti-Rabies vaccines on hand for an immediate dog bite treatment.
