HYDERABAD: YSRTP President YS Sharmila, who was arrested on Tuesday, was granted conditional bail by the 14th ACMM Court of Nampally in the night. She was directed to furnish a personal bond to secure the bail.

According to earlier reports, the court has sent her on a 14-day judicial remand. But after hearing arguments on her remand, the court granted the conditional bail.

The Telangana police on Tuesday night arrested YSRTP president YS Sharmila following her attempt earlier in the day to stage a protest at Pragathi Bhavan, the office cum residence of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR). She was produced in the 14th ACMM Court of Nampally which ordered her to be sent on a 14-day remand.

According to reports, Sharmila was charged under Section 382 of the IPC. Following he remand, the police were preparing to shift her to the Chanchalguda jail where she would be lodged during her remand period. Earlier, she was made to go through the mandatory medical examination before being produced in the court.

The YSRTP chief was detained in the afternoon after she made a vain attempt to proceed to Pragathi Bhavan to stage a protest there against Monday's attack on her convoy and the foisting of cases against her by the Narsampet police. However, the city police stopped her from proceeding to the Chief Minister's office cum residence.

Under dramatic circumstances, Sharmila's car was towed away while she was sitting inside the vehicle, which turned out to be a rare spectacle. She was shifted to the SR Nagar police station. The police also prevented Sharmila's mother YS Vijayamma from leaving her house when she wanted to visit her daughter at the station. A heated argument ensued between her and the police over the issue.
