HYDERABAD: The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced the schedule for the Presidential election. Accordingly, the voting will take place on July 18. The results will be announced on July 21, three days before the end of current President Ram Nath Kovind's term. According to the schedule, the last date for filing nominations is June 29. The elected candidate will take oath as the President of India on July 25.

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, on Thursday, said that the Secretary-General of Rajya Sabha would be the Returning Officer for the election.

The President will be elected by the electoral college consisting of 233 elected members from Rajya Sabha, 543 elected members from Lok Sabha and 4,120 elected members from legislative assemblies of all states including union territories Delhi and Pondicherry.

The notification would announced on June 15, nominations will be accepted from June 29, the date of scrutiny of nominations would be June 30. The last date for withdrawal of nominations would be July 2.
