HYDERABAD: Marri Shashidhar Reddy, who was expelled from the Congress party a few days ago, resigned from the party on Tuesday.

Announcing his resignation at a press conference in Hyderabad, the senior leader alleged that the Congress had failed as an opposition party and that he resigned with profound sadness.

Shashidhar Reddy stated that he detailed everything in a letter written to Congress leader Sonia Gandhi. He went on to say that he made the decision solely for the benefit of Telangana because the party's situation was deteriorating day by day. He claimed that his father was one of those who suggested the hand symbol to the Congress Party.

Shashidhar Reddy also slammed Manickam Tagore and claimed that the Congress lost all elections after Uttam Kumar became the TPCC president. The Congress party recently expelled him from the party for six years on charges of anti-party activities. The action came a day after Shashidhar Reddy met BJP strongman and Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi.

Soon after meeting Amit Shah, Shashidhar Reddy disclosed his desire to join the BJP soon. He targetted TPCC chief Revanth Reddy and Congress Telangana Incharge Manickam Tagore on this occasion. He alleged that Tagore sold himself out to Revanth Reddy and was acting like the latter's puppet.
