HYDERABAD: Telangana Bharatiya Janata Party president Bandi Sanjay Kumar advised party leaders on Wednesday not to waste time lobbying for party tickets to contest the state's next Assembly and general elections, but instead to focus on strengthening the party at all levels.

"The BJP national leadership and parliamentary board would be in charge of selecting candidates for the assembly and Lok Sabha elections. Those who work hard, follow the party line and discipline, and remain loyal to the party would get party tickets," Sanjay said while interacting with Kamareddy district leaders at the Praja Sangrama Yatra camp in Khanapur.

Insisting that individual-centric politics had no place in the BJP, Sanjay said that the party would undoubtedly honour the party's leaders for their sincere and diligent efforts in ensuring the party's success. "The national leadership of the party would not give in to any lobbying or pressure tactics.

"The party would evaluate your working style, popularity, and fighting spirit before granting you tickets to run in the elections.

Eventually, the only factor that will provide you party tickets is your ability to win", he added.

The BJP president urged party leaders to be present among the people at all times and to fight against the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi. He assured that the party would stand by them in the event of any troubles from the government.

He also asked the party leaders to form the booth committees at all polling stations without any delay and any negligence would not be tolerated in this mission. There is a growing anti-incumbency among the people. We need to capitalise on that, he added.

Sanjay slammed Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for allegedly targeting BJP National General Secretary (Organization) B L Santosh in the alleged MLAs' poaching matter while addressing the gathering in Khanapur town.

He said, "Santosh is a brilliant leader who has worked hard to uphold Hindu dharma and the integrity of the nation. KCR is pressing fabricated charges against him. The ACB court's decision to invalidate the document designating Santosh as a suspect in the poaching case was a slap in KCR's face.

Sanjay said the chief minister had declared a war against the Centre. "We are ready for the battle. There is no question of succumbing to cases, rowdy sheets and attacks. We shall continue our fight till we hoist the saffron flag on Telangana land," he asserted.

Sanjay said that the padayatra would culminate with a public meeting at Karimnagar on December 15, 2022. It would be attended by BJP national president J P Nadda. "It is going to be the beginning of the downfall of the KCR government," he said.
