QUTHBULLAPUR: A visit by former MP Ponnam Prabhakar to the house of Quthbullapur MLA Vivekanand on Tuesday sparked speculation of the senior Congress leader’s attempts to join the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS). Rumour mills worked overtime to suggest that the two leaders held deliberations to work out details of Prabhakar’s joining the BRS.

It all started with Ponnam Prabhakar’s visit to Vivekanand in Quthbullapur on Tuesday morning. The senior Congress leader, on this occasion, promised his financial support to various welfare activities of the Gowda community. He also handed over a cheque for Rs 25 lakhs to the MLA as donation in memory of his parents.

Confirming the same, MLA Vivekanand also said that Prabhakar had extended the financial support for the construction of a Gowda marriage function hall and cottages in the vicinity of the famous Rajanna temple in Vemulawada.

The meeting gave wings to the speculation that Prabhakar had visited Vivekanand’s house more for political reasons, especially to discuss his possible future in the BRS, under the cover of a welfare activity. The BRS MLA however scotched the speculation, saying that their meeting was completely apolitical.
