Asaduddin Owaisi’s name in voters list at two places, TPCC reports to ECI

HYDERABAD: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC), on Friday alleged that name of AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi is registered as a voter in two different Telangana assembly segments in the final publication of voters list released on January 5, 2023.
According to the TPCC, MP Asaduddin Owaisi's name was registered in the voters list of Rajendra Nagar and Khairatabad Assembly constituencies, in violation of the Election Commission of India rules (ECI).
G Niranjan, a member of the TPCC, wrote to Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, seeking action under Part III-Section 17 of the Representation of the People Act, 1950, because having names in two different assembly segments was a violation of the Election Commission's rules.
G Niranjan said, while enclosing the Khairatabad and Rajendra Nagar assembly voters list, that this demonstrates the irresponsibility of an elected member of parliament as well as the election machinery's recklessness in publishing the final voters list.
