HYDERABAD: Former Shaikpet Mandal Revenue Officer (MRO) Ch. Sujata Revenue Officer (MRO) was found dead under suspicious circumstances on Saturday in Hyderabad. Her death has sparked speculation about the circumstances surrounding her death.
According to reports, she is suspected to have died by suicide, similar to her husband, who ender his life after her arrest in 2020. However, her family members claimed she wasn't feeling well, that she had dengue fever, and that she died from a cardiac arrest.
Sujatha's husband, Ajay Kumar, is said to have died by suicide on June 17, 2020, by jumping off the roof of a five-story building in Chikkadpally. Ajay, who was working as an assistant professor at Osmania University, took the drastic decision to end his life a few days after Sujatha was detained and jailed for a land scam.
The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested Sujatha on June 8, 2020, in connection with a corruption allegation involving more than 4,865 square yards of land in Hyderabad's wealthy Banjara Hills. The ACB searched Sujatha's house in Gandhi Nagar and discovered gold jewellery and Rs 30 lakh in cash. She formerly held the positions of MRO for the zones in Mushirabad and Amberpet.
