Harish Rao asks officials to speed-up medical college works in Telangana

HYDERABAD: Telangana Health Minister T Harish Rao asked officials to speed up the work on the nine medical colleges which were being constructed across the State at a review meeting of Arogyasree HealthCare Trust office conducted on Saturday. Harish Rao, in the meeting, also asked the officials to complete the tender process for the remaining work.

The Minister asked the officials to take steps to start MBBS classes in Karimnagar, Khammam, Kamareddy, Vikarabad, Janagam, Nirmal, Bhupalpally, Sircilla and Asifabad districts this year. “The mother and child care centers under construction should also be completed soon and the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) hospitals being constructed at NIMS Gandhi Hospital should be made accessible to the public,” said Harish Rao.

The works of 23 ongoing Community Health Centres (CHCs) under Telangana Vaidya Vidhana Parishad (TVVP) should be completed soon, he said. There were already 20 diagnostic centers in Telangana and the work of opening the 13 newly established centers would be expedited.

The Health Minister also asked the officials to complete the works of mortuaries and 12 central medicine stores. “Nine critical care hospitals are also being set up near the most accident-prone areas,” he added.

The Minister asked officials to ensure that medicines were available in all hospitals and maintain a buffer stock of three months. “Medicines should be distributed to the respective hospitals depending on their requirement. The medical test results conducted in government hospitals should be made available within 24 hours. The e-Upkaran portal should be used for immediate repairs when the medical equipment is damaged,” he said.
