HYDERABAD: Is Hyderabad Mayor Gadwal Vijayalaxmi defecting to the Congress only to save her house in Banjara Hills which she purchased at a low price?

This is the allegation put forth by an advocate who has served a legal notice upon the Mayor.

What the notice says?

According to the notice issued by advocate Rajesh Kumar, Government Order 56 (GO 56) was passed on May 23, 2023 wherein the revenue department regularised two plots in NBT Nagar, Banjara Hills in favour of Mayor Vijayalaxmi and her brother K Venkateshwar Rao.

Go 56 then directed the chief commissioner of land administration, Telangana and the Hyderabad district collector to regularise the two lands.

While the land bearing H.No 8-2-686/22 in NBT Nagar, Road No 12, Banjara Hills measuring 1,161 square yards was registered in favour of K Venkateswar Rao for Rs 2,500 square yard (Rs 29,02,500), H. No 8-2-686/21 in the same area measuring 425 sq yards was registered in favour of Vijayalaxmi Gadwal for Rs 350 per square yard (Rs 1,48,750).

Advocate warns legal action

Owing to the above facts, Advocate Rajesh Kumar said, "The two politicians are enjoying good positions...They have no shortage of money. For such people, why give land like gold at a very low price? It is strange to sell land costing a few crores for only thousands."

He added that the GO 56 had no public benefit and cost loss to Government.

Rajesh Kumar had issued notice to Vijayalaxmi on March 11, 2024 and sought a response within a week. With no response, Rajesh Kumar said that he would proceed with legal action.

"It is very clear that Vijayalaxmi is changing party to save her house. The new Government could have easily cancelled her allocation. For this very reason, Vijayalaxmi is switching to the ruling party," said Rajesh Kumar.
