HYDERABAD: Minister for Industries KT Ramarao responded positively on Wednesday to the request for allocation of TSIIC sites for the establishment of electric charging stations, as sought by Telangana State Renewable Energy Development Corporation (TSREDCO) Chairman Y. Sathish Reddy.

Y. Sathish Reddy, Chairman of Telangana State Renewable Energy Development Corporation (REDCO), submitted a letter to KTR urging him to allocate public spaces for the establishment of electric vehicle charging stations in the city.

Sathish Reddy requested that lands belonging to TSIIC, IT sector, T-Hub, and T Works in Hyderabad's surrounding areas be allocated for the establishment of charging centres. It has been discovered that 28 TSIIC areas in Hyderabad are suitable for the installation of charging stations.

He also stated that once the department allotted the spots, the State Renewable Energy Development Corporation (TSREDCO) would establish DC fast charging stations as soon as possible. He said that the establishment of charging stations would greatly assist commuters in encouraging the purchase of electric vehicles, thereby increasing the state's E-Mobility.

Sathish Reddy further emphasised that the Telangana Government was committed to promoting electric vehicles in order to reduce pollution and promote sustainable transportation.

Protection of the environment is a top priority for the state administration, said KTR. He said that additional efforts were already being made to promote the adoption of electric vehicles. As a result, the Telangana government had undertaken the necessary preparations for the Formula E race in Hyderabad, which would be held for the first time in the nation.

He said that 292 EV charging centers had already been set up in Hyderabad with the cooperation of the state government. The corporation was making efforts to set up more charging stations in public places i.e. airports, railway stations, metro stations, municipal parking places, bus depots, markets, shopping malls, petrol stations and in tourist areas. He said that TSREDCO identified 1,301 areas across the state for further set up of charging stations.
