KOTHAGUDEM: Two CPI Maoists Madakam Kosi also known as Rajitha from Cherla Area Committee and Madhavi Dhani alias Lachchi, a member of Dummugudem Dalam were arrested by the Bhadradri Kothagudem district police at Bodanalli forest area on Wednesday.

Kothagudem SP Vineetha produced the Maoists before the media on Thursday. Reportedly, the duo was arrested when they were attempting to plant landmines to kill the police. "We have seized 20 gelatin sticks, two detonators, party literature and electric wires from them," said the SP. According to the police, there were already 81 cases registered on Rajitha pertaining to landmine blasts, murders, and firing at the police.

The SP further claimed that Rajitha had confessed to murdering Irpa Ramudu, who is the vice-sarpanch of Kurnavalli. "Upon the orders of the top leaders of the Maoist party, I killed him," said Rajitha in her statement to the police.

Taking a dig at the Maoist party leaders, SP Vineetha asserted that they are harassing innocent tribals and pressurizing them to join the Maoist party. She said that the tribals were used in making landmines and advised the people of agency areas who are supporting the banned Maoist party to surrender before the police. "It is not right on part of the Maoist party leaders to make innocent tribal people slaves for their selfish needs," SP said.
