HYDERABAD: On the last day of campaign for the Telangana Assembly elections, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi interacted with cab and auto drivers, gig and GHMC employees in Jubilee Hills constituency on Tuesday. He listened to their issues and assured to solve it if the Congress was voted to power.

Speaking to Rahul, online food delivery platform workers lamented that there was no guarantee of their jobs and that they had to be on roads for at least 12 to 14 hours a day to earn a minimum wage. Rahul promised that they would implement a programme for gig workers similar to one they were running in Rajasthan.

Sanitation workers shared that since they were only contract workers, they earned Rs 13,000 to 14,000 every month which was not enough to support their family. They wanted their jobs to be regularised and get access to ESI and PF.

Cab drivers shared that all their earnings were nullified due to high fuel prices and that their returns were very less if they dropped customers at airport.

After listening to their issues, Rahul Gandhi promised to arrange a special meeting with the Congress Chief Minister or the concerned Minister, if voted to power. He added that he would formulate welfare schemes from the suggestions emerging out of the meeting. Later, Rahul Gandhi and Jubilee Hills candidate took a ride in an autorickshaw.
