“No party should put up candidates against her. Only then it would amount to Telangana honouring her. So, no Telangana bidda should contest against her,” Revanth said.

HYDERABAD: The Telangana Congress has give an open invitation to candidates who wish to contest in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Making the announcement on Tuesday, Chief Minister and Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president A Revanth Reddy said that the State Congress had passed a unanimous resolution giving the All India Congress Committee (AICC) and its president Mallikarjun Kharge the complete authority on the selection of candidates.

Revanth said that the applications would be considered until February 3.

“A special committee has been instated to scrutinise the applications. Ministers and in-charges have been assigned to all 17 Parliament segments,” he said.

Addressing the media, Revanth said that there were chances of elections taking place in the next 60 days.

“The Rajya Sabha schedule is already out. They will take place in Telangana as well. The cadre has to work hard for good results,” he said.

Targetting the BJP and Prime Minister Modi, Revanth said, "Modi has failed to implement the promises made to the people of the country. Because of Modi, India has the highest number of farmer suicides in the world. None of the promises given to the farmers have been implemented. The BJP seems to have taken K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) as an example and have been buying MLAs and bringing down governments across the country. The country now has a debt of Rs 100 lakh crore. A leader like Rahul Gandhi needs to become the Prime Minister."

The Congress Government should be elected at the Centre so as to enable the State Government to implement all its promises 100 percent.

Stating that Sonia Gandhi would contest from Telangana, he appealed to all political parties not to field any candidate against her. “Our Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka has already said Sonia Gandhi should contest from Telangana. No party should put up candidates against her. Only then it would amount to Telangana honouring her. So, no Telangana bidda should contest against her.”

Revanth said that the Congress would kickstart its campaign for the elections with public meetings from February 2, 2024. “The first meeting is in Indravelly. Efforts must be made to make it a massive success,” he said.

Criticising the BRS, Revanth said, "The party is dead in Telangana. Voting for the BRS is like drowning in the Musi. The promises of the Congress can be implemented better in Telangana only if the party comes to power at the Centre and in all the 17 seats in the State."

Revanth Reddy alleged that the oath-taking of MLCs under Governor's quota was postponed due to a political conspiracy after the BRS approached the court. He added that in the upcoming Budget Assembly session, a white paper would be released on the irrigation department and a vigilance inquiry would be launched on the department along with a judicial inquiry on the irregularities during the BRS regime. He also said that a decision was taken by the State Government to celebrate the birth and death anniversaries of renowned revolutionary singer and balladeer Gaddar.
