HYDERABAD: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has asked officials to speed up works on the Hyderabad Regional Ring Road (RRR) project. "Land acquisition for this project should be completed within three months. Along with land acquisition, tenders should be called for RRR (North) works," he said.

RRR (North) has been constructed to the extent of 158.645 kms in phase one of Bharat Mala Project. The Telangana Government would bear half of the cost for land acquisition required for this project. Of the 1935.35 hectares required for the project, 1459.28 hectares of land has been acquired so far.

According to a release from the Chief Minister's office on Tuesday, there has been no progress in land acquisition for this project for nine months due to the non-cooperation of the previous State Government. "No attempt was made to resolve the issues raised by the National Highways Authority (NHAI). This project was stalled. After the formation of the Congress Government, the RRR was given special attention," the release said.

The Government is all set to divide Telangana into three clusters to speed up industrial development in the State. The region within the Outer Ring Road (ORR) would be classified as Urban Telangana cluster, region between ORR and RRR as semi-urban cluster and the area after the Regional Ring Road as rural cluster. A new policy would come up for setting up industries in these clusters.

As part of this, the Chief Minister asked officials to complete the RRR at the earliest. He said that if the RRR works were completed, development of the State would be fast-tracked with the setup of new industries in the semi-urban zone as transportation issues would be resolved.

The Chief Minister directed officials to complete the stalled land acquisition works in the next three months and to invite tenders for RRR (North). A request has been made to the NHAI to declare the RRR (South) portion as a national highway and to formulate the land acquisition plan for the area.

Revanth Reddy said that the Government was ready to bear the financial burden to complete the RRR.
