HYDERABAD: Telangana state government disbursed Rs. 1218.38 crores into the accounts of 15.96 lakh farmers covering 25,36,775 acres on the second day of Rythu Bandhu distribution on Thursday.

Telangana state Agriculture Minister Singireddy Niranjan Reddy spoke after the distribution, recalling that farmers are living with dignity under the leadership of K Chandrasekhar Rao, who implemented various schemes such as Rythu Bandhu, Irrigation, Mission Kakatiya, Rythu Bhima, and 24-hour agricultural schemes.

The minister stated that farmers are no longer required to queue for fertilisers as they do in the united Andhra Pradesh, and that the government had also provided all kinds of facilities to make agriculture easier for farmers, as a result of which Telangana has ranked first in the production of rice grains and cotton for the last eight years.

Singireddy Niranjan Reddy further said that farmers in other states were watching Telangana and its welfare programmes and demanding that their state governments emulate Telangana.

The minister slammed the BJP-led central government for resorting to conspiracies to thwart Telangana's development, citing the threat of BRS. He stated that a farmers' government would be formed during the next term at the centre.
