Rythu Bandhu funds from Dec 28, Modi not farmer-friendly: Singireddy Niranjan Reddy

HYDERABAD: The Telangana Government, headed by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, is all set to disburse the 10th phase of 'Rythu Bandhu' funds from Wednesday. Through this, Rs. 7676.61 crores would be disbursed to the accounts of 70.54 lakh beneficiaries. Telangana Agriculture Minister Singireddy Niranjan Reddy on Tuesday said that the beneficiaries would receive Rs. 5,000 per acre and that there were a total of 1.53 crore acres.
Stating that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao aimed at ensuring that farmers did not face any hardships for the investment, the Minister said that a total of Rs.65,559.28 crores was spent in 10 instalments into the accounts of farmers. He said that Telangana was the only State that was implementing pro-farmer schemes and said that farmers across the country were wishing for these schemes to be implemented in their States.
Taking a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Minister Singireddy Niranjan Reddy said that the Central Government was not farmer-friendly and that Narendra Modi was not able to formulate a proper agricultural policy since 2014.
The State Minister highlighted a few failed promises of the Centre such as linking agriculture to employment, pension for farmers who attained 60 years, providing Minimum Support Prices for farmers and doubling the farmers' income by 2022.
