HYDERABAD: In a major blow to the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), party president K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) was defeated in Kamareddy by BJP candidate Katipally Venkata Ramana Reddy. Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president A Revanth Reddy also contested from the constituency

Apart from KCR his six cabinet colleagues– Erabelli Dayakar Rao (Palakurthi), Allola Indrakaran Reddy (Nirmal), Singireddy Niranjan Reddy (Wanaparthy) , V Srinivas Goud (Mahabubnagar), Koppula Eshwar (Dharmapuri) and Puvvada Ajay Kumar (Khammam) were also faced a defeat in their respective Assembly constituencies.

In Palakurthi, Minister for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Dayakar Rao was defeated by a novice Congress candidate Mamidala Yashaswini. Rao was an undefeated leader, he won six times as an MLA and once as an MP. However, in this election he was defeated by 26-year-old Yashaswini. In Nirmal, Minister for Endowments Indrakaran Reddy was defeated by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Alleti Maheshwar Reddy.

Similarly, Minister for Agriculture Niranjan Reddy was defeated by Congress candidate by a majority of 24,200 votes in Wanaparthy. In Mahbubnagar, Minister for Excise and Prohibition V Srinivas Goud was defeated by Congress candidate Yennam Srinivas Reddy. While Minister for BC Welfare Koppula Eshwar was defeated by Congress candidate Adluri Laxman Kumar by a majority of 22,039 votes. In Khammam, Minister for Transport Puvvada Ajay Kumar was defeated by Congress candidate Thummala Nageswara Rao.
