ETURNAGARAM: The Mulugu district police arrested a suspected Maoist courier at Jagannathapuram Cross Road in Wajedu mandal of the district on Sunday. Rs one lakh cash, reportedly collected from politicians, was among those recovered from his possession.

The suspected courier was intercepted during the road-checks which were intensified locally due to the ongoing Maoists People's Liberation Guerilla Army (PLGA) Week, being observed by the extremists.

Eturnagaram ASP Ashok Kumar produced the arrested Maoist courier Dabbakatla Suman at a press conference held at the police station on Tuesday.

According to the ASP, Suman, the suspected courier, hails from Tadvai village of Mulugu district. The police, during their road-check, found him suspicious and immediately apprehended him.

The ASP informed that a cell phone, Rs one lakh cash collected from politicians, a SIM card, revolutionary literature and letterheads were seized from him. The police official also claimed that Suman was the one who created the letter in the name of Maoist spokesperson Jagan recently.
