Telangana Cabinet forms judicial commissions to probe into Kaleshwaram, power projects

HYDERABAD: The Telangana Cabinet on Tuesday constituted two judicial commissions of inquiry - one into power sector and another into irrigation.

The Commission on Irrigation would be headed by retired Supreme Court Judge Pinaki Chandra Bose and the one on power would be led by retired Chief Justice of Patna High Court Justice L Narsimha Reddy.

Ministers Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, D Sridhar Babu, Ponnam Prabhakar and Komatireddy Venkatreddy briefed the media about the Cabinet decisions.

The judicial commission, headed by former Supreme Court Judge Pinakini Chandra Ghosh, would investigate the irregularities and corruption in the Kaleswaram Project. Similarly, Justice L Narasimha Reddy Commission would investigate into the alleged irregularities in the Bhadradri and Yadadri power projects. The commission would also inquire about the previous government's power purchase agreement with the Chattisgarh government.

Both the judicial commissions had been asked to submit their reports within 100 days.

The Cabinet also approved the Indiramma housing scheme, which enabled the construction of 3,500 houses in each Assembly constituency in the first phase. About 4.5 lakh houses would be built this year with an outlay of Rs 22,500 crores.

The Cabinet also approved issuing of white ration cards to eligible people soon. Guidelines would be formulated in a couple of days. Meanwhile, the Civil Supplies department had been asked to submit a report on segregating white ration cards and Aarogyasri cards.

The Cabinet approved the constitution of 16 corporations for OBCs, SCs, and STs. The proposed corporations were for Mudiraj, Yadava Kurma, Munnuru Kapu, Padmasali, Perika, Medara, Gangaputra, Lingayath, Arya Vysya, Reddy, Mala, and Madiga and their subsects, Komaram Bheem Adivasi, Sant Sevalal Lambadi, and Ekalavya communities.

The Cabinet also decided to give women 25-30 acres of land to establish exclusive bazaars.

The ministers claimed that 84 per cent of beneficiaries had received the Rythu Bandhu amount, and in the next two days, it would reach 93 per cent.

The council of ministers also agreed to provide jobs to DSC - 2008 qualified teachers.

The Cabinet authorised the officials to take steps to ensure that there was no drinking water scarcity during summer season.

Handicrafts market near Shilparamam

Later addressing a public meeting of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) at Parade Grounds, the Chief Minister said that handicrafts stalls would be set up near Shilparamam to facilitate marketing of their products at national and global level.

On the free bus travel scheme for women, he said KTR, Harish Rao and Kavitha did not want the free bus travel scheme to be implemented. “We will crush them and continue the scheme. They were sponsoring agitation by autorickshaw drivers.

He said the number of women in SHGs should grow to one crore from 63 lakhs. “We will make one crore wine crorepathis in five years to make Telangana a rich state.

KCR family was growing restless and asserting that they would topple “our government. Modi and KCR are conspiring to dethrone our government. If such attempts were made, womenfolk would revolt with broomsticks,” he rued.

How could Modi who had insulted Telangana people seek votes here.

In a few days, “we would organise a parade with 10 lakh women,” he said.
