TRS MLA 'Rasamayi' Balkishan's car attacked in Karimnagar district

HYDERABAD: Tension prevailed for a while in Gundlapalli of Karimnagar district on Sunday when the car of 'Rasamayi' Balkishan, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) MLA from Manakondur, was attacked by some youths, allegedly belonging to the Congress party. The agitators were staging a protest demanding construction of a double road in Gundlapalli of Gunneruvaram mandal.

The incident happened when the MLA was passing by on the same road. A video of the incident showed the protesters storming Balkishan's vehicle while raising slogans against him. A few miscreants were also seen slamming the vehicle with footwear. District Congress President Kavwampally Satyanarayana visited the agitators and expressed his solidarity.

The police had to resort to lathicharge to quell the belligerent protesters. Scores of protesters, along with the DCC chief, were detained on this occasion.

A few agitators were reportedly injured. Even before the police could use caning to disperse the protesters, the MLA's vehicle was seen speeding away from the protest site.
