Violation of Munugode campaign deadline will be taken seriously: Telangana CEO

MUNUGODE: Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Telangana Vikas Raj on Tuesday said that no non-local should be seen in the Munugode constituency after 6 pm on Wednesday (November 2, 2022) ahead of the scheduled by-election on November 3.

"Police will conduct regular inspections, and any non-local seen in the constituency will be subjected to legal action," said the Chief Electoral Officer.

Political parties have been asked to wind up their campaigning by Tuesday evening. "Special teams have been appointed for this purpose. Action will be taken if the Election Commission is informed of any violations," said Vikas Raj.

There are 2,41,855 voters in the constituency and 298 polling stations have been set up to ensure smooth polling. "We have given voter IDs with new design and have also set up webcasting in all the polling centers," said Vikas Raj. Polling will start from 7 am and end at 6 pm on November 3.

The district administration has made elaborate arrangements for the polling day. Around 199 micro-observers will be available during the time of voting. "We are using the services of 3,366 polling staff in Munugode. We have identified 105 problematic areas," said the CEO.

Reportedly, 185 cases have been registered and Rs 6.80 crores of cash and 4,500 litres of liquor were seized in the constituency in connection with the by-election.
