Telangana Rashtra Samithi is now Bharat Rashtra Samithi, announces KCR

The Chief Minister chose an auspicious Muhurat of 1:10pm to launch his National Party.

HYDERABAD: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) made the long-awaited announcement and officially confirmed his national party as Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) at an extended General Body meeting held at Telangana Bhavan on Wednesday. The Chief Minister chose the auspicious Muhurat of 1:10 pm to launch his national party. KCR announced the name, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), amid lusty cheers by the TRS executive committee members and leaders.

As everyone at the meeting waited with bated breath, KCR read out the party General Body 's unanimous decision to change the name of the party from TRS to Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS).

"Telangana Rashtra Samithi, in its State General Body meeting dated 05.10.2022, has passed a resolution to change the name of the party from Telangana Rashtra Samithi to BHARAT RASHTRA SAMITHI. To that effect, necessary amendments to the party Constitution have also been made in the same meeting. The Resolution and the Amended Party Constitution is submitted," read out KCR from the letter of official communication addressed to the Election Commission of India (ECI).

Earlier, the resolution to rename the TRS as BRS was moved in the extended general body meeting. The resolution was ratified unanimously. As many as 283 members of the party including Ministers, MLAs, MLCs and MPs and the party's 33 district unit presidents besides the special invitees took part in the meeting. It is reported that all the 283 members of the party signed in favour of the resolution.

KCR on this occasion gave a detailed account of the reasons that prompted the necessity for launching a national party and the renaming of the TRS as BRS. Earlier, as soon as KCR stepped inside, the meeting hall at the Telangana Bhavan reverberated with the slogan 'Desh Ka Netha KCR'. All the participants including the ministers raised the slogans in unison.

Before the general body meeting, KCR was accorded a rousing welcome by the party activists and people all along the Chief Minister's journey from Pragathi Bhavan to the Telangana Bhavan.

The Telangana Chief Minister, in the morning, hosted breakfast to the national leaders who arrived in the city to take part in the crucial meeting as special invitees.

First donation from Adilabad farmers

In a heartening development for the BRS, the rechristened party received its first donation on Wednesday from farmers of the Adilabad hinterlands. A group of farmers pooled in Rs 66,000, which they earned from their soya crop, and handed it over as their donation for the party.
