HYDERABAD: Salar Jung Museum has organised a photo exhibition titled "Operation Polo" as part of Azadi ka Amrit Mohaotsav.

The exhibition 'Operation Polo' displays photographs depicting key events and leaders who participated in armed struggle in Hyderabad before September 1948.

Operation Polo was the code name used by the then-recently independent dominion of India to refer to the police operation for the accession of the Hyderabad State and its integration into the Indian Union in September 1948.

It was a military operation in which the Indian Armed Forces invaded the princely state governed by the Nizam who eventually integrated it into the Indian Union. And, the Nizam became the Raj Pramuk.

The operation resulted in widespread communal violence, leaving many scars in the people's memories.
