YADADRI BHUVANAGIRI: The first ghat road leading up to the hill shrine Yadagirigutta developed cracks on Wednesday due to continuous battering of torrential rains. The protection wall on the ghat road also crumbled a bit on one side, sparking fears of an imminent threat. The cracks on the ghat road opposite the famous ant-hill were widened by the constant flowing down of rain water into them from atop the hill.

Realising the danger that the ghat road and the protection wall pose to the commuters, the authorities immediately suspended vehicular movement on this stretch by putting up barricades.

Owing to heavy rains, the water flowing down from the hill top began overflowing the ghat road, thereby loosening its soil and widening the already existing crevices on the road. The Roads and Buildings (R&D) department personnel immediately reached the site and carried out the necessary repairs.
