Balakrishna is the sixth child of Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR) and Basavatarakam
Balakrishna debuted as a child artist in Tatamma Kala, a film directed by his father, in 1974
The actor spent his entire childhood in Hyderabad and graduated in BA from Nizam College
He first appeared on the big screen when he was 14 and has been in the business for 48 years
Many of his films were screened for 100 days and some even crossed 1,000 days
He worked with 126 actresses in his long filmy career so far
He celebrated his first Golden Jubilee with the film Mangammagari Manavadu
Balakrishna is fondly referred to as Balayya or NBK by his fans
The actor turned a politician with his election as an MLA from the Hindupur Assembly seat in 2014 and 2019
Balakrishna also heads the Basavatarakam Indo American Cancer Hospital and Research Institute in Hyderabad
The Nandamuri scion received three Nandi Awards as best actor for Narasimha Naidu (2001), Simha (2010) and Legend (2014)
