HYDERABAD: A bench of Telangana High Court consisting of Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice NV Shravan Kumar resolved a 73-year-old civil dispute concerning the demand for appropriation of properties belonging to Nizam's jagirdar, Nawab Fakhr al-Mulk among his legal heirs.

Nawab Fakhr al-Mulk, (1860-1934), was a nobleman, belonging to the extended family of the Salar Jangs. He was an assistant minister for judiciary, police, and postal departments, and a member of the Cabinet Council from 1893-1917.

The bench invalidated the descendants' claims over the Errum Manzil building, adjacent area, and the Government TB hospital called Chest Hospital at Erragadda.

The Court thought the disputed properties were vested in the state as the TB hospital building was acquired by the Nizam regime, which later became a state property.

"Hence, no claims can be entertained on that property or the adjacent land. Even in respect of Errum Manzil and the surrounding areas, the state acquired the same after duly compensating the legal heirs, and hence no claims can be entertained," the order said.

Earlier in June 2019, the decedents of the jagirdar protested the proposal of the then Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao who was planning to demolish the Chest hospital and build a new secretariat in that area.
