JAGTIAL: BRS Nizamabad MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha has said that the Congress is completely misusing power and has transformed Telangana into a police state.

On Thursday, Kavitha along with Korutla MLA Kalvakuntla Sanjay, BRS Jagtial president Kalvakuntla Vidyasagar Rao visited Jagtial sub-jail where Habsipur sarpanch Rajeshwar Reddy has been lodged. The BRS alleged that illegal cases are being filed against BRS.

Speaking to the media at Metpally, Kavitha said, "After coming to power, Congress MLC Jeevan Reddy filed an illegal case against sarpanch Rajeshwar Reddy and put him in jail. We will not stand silently and fight cases legally in front of the public. The administration was smooth during the ten years rule of BRS. There was friendly policing. We did not misuse law and order and fought every case politically. It is clear that this attitude will not last for long and people will turn around. The public is complaining about lack of electricity and drinking water in many places in the State. If anyone complains against the Government about the problems, cases are registered against them."

Talking about the viral video where a woman police officer dragged a protesting student by her hair in Hyderabad on Wednesday, Kavitha said, "The students were protesting peacefully in the university. The police never acted in this way in the past in Telangana. A new trend has started after the Congress party has come to power and they are making it a police State. BRS cadres, who have already been part of the Telangana movements and struggles, have to be brave. We will fight until the promises given by the Congress party to the people are implemented."
