Revanth Reddy: From Congress working president to Chief Ministerial candidate in just six years

HYDERABAD: With the Congress winning the sole State of Telangana in the five States that went to polls last month, the party has unveiled grand celebrations here on Thursday where Revanth Reddy will be sworn in as the Chief Minister of the State.

The mood is upbeat among Congress ranks as Revanth Reddy shouldered the entire responsibility of the campaign. In all, he addressed 61 public meetings, eight rallies and 28 roadshows which ensured that the Congress came to power for the first time in Telangana.

Revanth ascended to the position of Chief Minister in just six years of joining the Congress. He was first made the working president of the party and then quickly took control of the party after he was nominated as the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president.

Revanth is the first PCC president to become a Chief Minister in Telangana. He rapidly rose above the ranks to take charge as the second Chief Minister of Telangana.

Arrangements at LB Stadium

Meanwhile, preparations are full swing for the grand swearing-in ceremony of Revanth Reddy at the LB Stadium in Hyderabad.

There was a slight change in Revanth Reddy's swearing-in ceremony. It was originally supposed to be held on Thursday morning at 10.28 AM. But the timing has now been changed and Revanth Reddy would take oath as Telangana Chief Minister at 1.04 PM.

On Wednesday, Revanth went to New Delhi and extended invitation to Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and AICC president Mallikarjun Gandhi.

Speaking to reporters, Sonia Gandhi has said that she would "probably" attend the swearing-in ceremony.
