HYDERABAD: Foxconn Interconnect Technologies delegation called on Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Tuesday at Dr B R Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat.

The new electronics manufacturing unit of the Foxconn Interconnect Technology being established at Kongara Kalan will create 25,000 jobs with an estimated investment of 500 million USD during the first phase.

The meeting was attended by Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu, Chief Secretary A Santhi Kumari and other officials.

The delegation was led by representative of Hon Hai Precision Industries V Lee.

The Chief Minister informed the delegation that the government was committed to providing an industry-friendly atmosphere in the State and extend all necessary help for fostering the growth of Telangana. All permissions required for the industries would be accorded with greater ease.

:The State Government will expedite the development of Electronics Industry in Telangana. The Government will provide required support for the operations of Foxconn Manufacturing Center at Kongara Kalan. The State will also extend all necessary support to upcoming projects which are being undertaken by the Foxconn company," the Chief Minister said.

This was announced at the groundbreaking ceremony of the unit on May 15 by then Minister for Industries & Commerce, ITE&C K T Rama Rao in the presence of Foxconn Interconnect Technology Chairman and CEO Sidney Liu. Foxconn came forth to invest in Telangana seeing it as a potential investment destination.

This is the first major industrial delegation that called on Revanth Reddy soon after he took over as the Chief Minister of Telangana.

“The new facility is a promise to continue delivering world-class products to the markets, and we welcome the participation of the local talent to create a brand name for Telangana in the global market,” Sidney Lu had said at the groundbreaking ceremony.

Earlier on March 16, Foxconn, iPhone and its accessories maker, will be setting up its manufacturing facility at Kongarakalan at an initial investment of USD 200 million (roughly Rs.16,000 crore).

It may be recalled that Foxconn chairman Young Liu met Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on March 2 and promised to set up a manufacturing unit in the State. The announcement was made after Chairman of FoxConn Young Liu met Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrshekhar Rao at Pragathi Bhavan on March 2.

The historic deal has a potential to generate employment to over one lakh people over a period of 10 years. he Chief Minister had said: “The Government is on a mission to transform Telangana for the better and has undertaken several marquee projects to realise the vision of Bangaru Telangana. Foxconn’s unit will help in generating large-scale employment to youth and will help in attracting more such industries to the State."

The Foxconn Chairman said that his organization had studied extensively about the State of Telangana. He lauded the friendly industrial development ecosystem created in Telangana State. Young Liu expressed happiness over the progress achieved by the Telangana state in the industrial sector, especially in IT and related electronics sectors, in a just eight years. The Chairman said that he was optimistic about the investments of his company in Telangana state.
