Two UoH English faculty among Asia's top 20 Arts, Humanities researchers

Two professors from the prestigious University of Hyderabad (UoH) belonging to the Department of English secured top ranks

HYDERABAD: Two professors from the prestigious University of Hyderabad (UoH) belonging to the Department of English secured top ranks. The UoH secured this honour for the fourth consecutive year, according to the recently-released report by Centre for Publications Ethics, Savitribai Phule Pune University, on “Arts and Humanities Research in India, South Asia and East Asia”.

The report is based on a scrutiny of articles in journals and book chapters across 7,069 publications (India), 8,181 (South Asia) and 47,918 (South & East Asia) in the fields of literature, history, language, philosophy, etc, indexed in the highly respected Web of Science database for the years 1989-2022.

Professor K Narayana Chandran is ranked 1 in India and South Asia. He is at 6 in South and East Asia (which includes China, Japan and Singapore, ranked by QS among the top research nations in the region).

Professor Pramod K Nayar of the same department is ranked 2 in India and South Asia. He is placed at 9 in South and East Asia.

Prof BJ Rao, Vice-Chancellor, expressed his delight at the report and the distinction of the two faculty. Prof. K Narayana Chandran and Prof. Pramod K Nayar improved their overall rankings in South and East Asia from 9 and 18 in 2020 to 6 and 9 respectively. The VC said he added that such reports will enable the university to identify and strengthen its research areas.
