SIRCILLA: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) visited Sarampalli village of Tangallapalli mandal on Thursday responding to the call given by BRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) to party workers to visit affected farmers to fathom the impact of drought in the State.

The former Minister and Sircilla legislator visited the paddy fields and farmers in the village and inquired about the reasons for the crop damage. He explained to them the impact of shutting down the Medigadda barrage on their lives.

“Instead of constructing a coffer dam covering the damaged pillars of Medigadda and lifting the 5,000 cusecs going waste into the sea, the Revanth Reddy Government spent time blaming us. With no Kaleshwaram this season the standing crops have dried up,” he said.

Blaming the Chief Minister for the inept handling of irrigation, KTR said that the CM was otherwise busy traveling to New Delhi to meet the Congress high command.

“Revanth Reddy did not implement the crop loan waiver that the Congress promised. On the other hand, the Government is instigating banks to terrorise farmers to repay loans. This crisis is caused by the inept handling of agriculture by the Congress,” he said.

He informed the farmers that KCR had directed the party leaders to visit all the 15 lakh acres that were hit by near-drought conditions in the State and report back to the BRS headquarters for compilation.

KTR observed that the tenant farmers were the most affected as the Congress Government deceived them by not implementing the ‘Rytu Bharosa’ financial assistance that would have saved them this crisis. “BRS demands implementation of Rytu Bharosa and release of Rs 500 per quintal bonus to save the paddy farmers. He also urged the farmers not to resort to suicide as the BRS would firmly stand behind them.
